Chris Murphy

Chris earned a BS in Radio and Television and a minor in Journalism from San Diego State University.

After working in the publishing industry, he moved to Central Florida in 1988 to try the family business for “one year”, running sales for Central and South Florida, Chris specified, sold and managed many projects, including major convention centers, hotel ballrooms, themed rides and attractions, theatres, television studios, schools and houses of worship.

Chris and his wife, Kristina, purchased the company in 2003 and moved it to a brand new, larger, purpose-built facility in 2008. As the company grew, they acquired a second facility in Seminole County.

Chris’ job has evolved from quarterback to coach, recruiting top notch players and developing them to operate at the highest level. He agrees with the saying, “Hire the right people then get out of their way!” Chris and Kristi continue to grow Murphy Lighting while maintaining its exceptional service standard.

Chris believes in giving back to the community and is active with several philanthropies and outreach groups. He is on the Board of Directors for Camp Boggy Creek and Canine Companions. He served on the Board of Younglife of Seminole County. Chris also supports The Universal Orlando Foundation, Give Kids the World, 4 Roots Farm, Orlando World Outreach Church, Journey Biker Church, Heart of Mercy Ministries, Fatherless No More, and others.

He plays guitar and bagpipes and enjoys reading; boating; vintage cars, motorcycles and travel trailers; and enjoying time with Kristi, their two adult children and many friends.
