Doug Magee

Douglas joined Murphy Lighting Systems in 2018 and serves as a Senior Lighting Technician. His work focuses on systems integration, programming, installation, and managing on-site crews to ensure each project runs smoothly from setup to completion.

Before joining MLS, Douglas built strong leadership and management skills through diverse professional experiences. He spent five years at Winn-Dixie, working directly under management to oversee front-end operations, supervise cashiers, and manage the cash office. He then spent another five years at Dreamway Trading, an online retail company, where he created and managed a new department of ten employees. Both roles taught him how to balance teamwork, scheduling, and meeting critical deadlines—skills that serve him well in the fast-paced lighting industry.

Douglas takes pride in watching projects evolve from concept to completion and enjoys seeing the joy they bring to audiences around the world. His career has taken him across the globe, contributing to some of the industry’s most high-profile projects, including Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, The Bourne Stuntacular, Super Nintendo World in Japan, Jurassic World VelociCoaster, and multiple areas of Universal’s Epic Universe—including The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic and How to Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk. He’s also worked on projects for the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex and the Orlando Science Center.

Outside of work, Douglas enjoys spending time with his wife, Katelyn, and their two children, Anna and Liam. On weekends, you’ll often find him working on his car, grilling (weather permitting), or mixing up creative drinks for family and friends.
